Alcea rosea    Hollyhock 15 back garden
Alcea
James Garden
Hollyhocks have grown in our garden as long as I can remember, self-seeding each year. They are biennials but over the years, groups have gotten out of "synch" so some are in rosette stage, some blooming each year. There's a color mix from pastel pink through deep maroon, reassorting each year so I never know what I'll have. They were a favorite of my Dad's so have a special place in the garden (although I still don't permit EVERY single one to sprout and grow just where it pleases - they are subject to a little bit of enforcement!
